Welcome to the Canadian Culinary Federation - Victoria branch
web-site.
With the launch of this site we will showcase
the work and dedication that our members put in to make this
association successful in Victoria. In addition the general
community will become aware of the efforts of the Victoria
branch and its membership.
As a tool for communication the internet is beyond doubt the
single most efficient method of getting large numbers of
people 'in touch' with each other with a minimum of effort.
That being said, we are all still human beings who are by our
very nature social creatures that require interaction with
others. With this web-site we can display photographs,
editorials and even videos showing all of the great things we
accomplish but without the participation of the members there
will be no content. Body language and intonation is very
difficult to gauge or express by e-mail or editorial, even
photographs can be misinterpreted so I urge everyone to use
this 'tool' to its full capability but please don't substitute
it for the physical association that has been developed.
Come out and get involved with events and projects, send
apprentices and colleagues if you can't make it yourself. Our
monthly meetings are set to become more informative with an
interesting line up of guest speakers scheduled. Workshops
have been discussed and are being looked into. The new board
is determined to make this association more accessible and
stimulating for all members. We are only as good as the
membership itself. We have some outstanding and talented
people in our midst to mentor and nurture the next generation
of chefs who are the future of this industry.
Let's use this medium as a link but not the anchor of our
association so that we may enjoy a level of pride and
professionalism in the craft that we have all dedicated most
of our working lives to.
I look forward to many stimulating discussions, ideas, plans,
theories, anecdotes and solutions initiated by this web-site
and hope that we all enjoy the results in a tangible and
satisfying manner.
